Islands consists of small blocks of graphite machine cut into the forms of islands from around the world. Facing increasing problems from sea level rising, islands are the territorial equivalents of canaries in the coalmine. Graphite is a form of carbon and so carries a reference to the causes of climate change. Presented on tables that I’ve designed and build positioned in a grid like meridians. Each table itself an island the viewer circles to get a close view of the sculptural islands.
